Following the huge success we had with our Desert Excursion to Liwa last year, we would like to invite you to join us for a fun filled Desert Day & Tour from Al Khazna to Sweihan.
The trip will combine the truly unique experience of a day in the serene surroundings of the Arabian Desert, including an optional overnight stay.
The route will be decided by our valued and experienced 4×4 enthusiasts and ABC Board Members Mr. Klaus Eidelpes & Mr. Carsten Weisner.
An additional feature will be an experimental slide presentation (projected against a dune after sunset) “IRAQ 1980-1985, ein Ritt über den Bodensee” by Klaus Eidelpes who will share his experience about his first job as a young engineer in a fascinating country.
Due to the different level of the participants, we would like to form 2 groups:
1.) Experienced drivers will be taken to a longer more challenging tour
2.) Newcomers will take the gravel road to the campsite where they can get first training and gain practical experience to drive in the dunes
For those who choose NOT to stay overnight in the desert, kindly note that we will escort you out of the desert to a near exit point so you can drive safely back to civilization.

Please note this will be the last stop to buy gasoline (please fill your car before the departure time), foodstuff, ice etc. before starting to the desert!
Cars: Authentic 4×4 desert proofed car, petrol tank full!!
Overnight stay: Please provide for your own stay e.g.: tents, blankets, inflatable mattress, camping chairs, warm clothes, wood for the campfire, torches, flashlights, garbage bags,
insect protection etc.
Food: You are requested to bring your own food & beverages for the whole trip including BBQ equipment
