Let us take you on a short walk through the history of the UAE. From Pearls to Oil, from the Trucial States to the United Arab Emirates. Incidentally these are the titles of the books authored by Mr David Heard CBE and Frau Dr. Frauke Heard-Bey who have graciously agreed to take us on this excursion through the past of the UAE.
Dr. Frauke Heard Bey who was born in Berlin, has studied History and Political Sciences in Heidelberg and Berlin. She came out to the then Trucial States to join her husband David in 1967. She eventually worked for 39 years in the National Centre for Documentation and Research in Abu Dhabi.
Mr David Heard CBE, a Londoner, came to Abu Dhabi in 1963 as a geologist in search of an adventurous life and ended up working with ADPC (Abu Dhabi Petroleum Company). He was the engineer overseeing the first production from the giant Asab and Sahil oil fields in the 1960s.
The virtual walk back into the history of our host country will take place at H.E. the Austrian Ambassador’s residence in Abu Dhabi.
