MESTER at the MODUL University

Our member DACH Advisory succeeded in establishing an Austrian University in Dubai: The MODUL university. Established in Vienna in 1908, the MODUL brand has over 100 years of legacy in hospitality and tourism education. The Dubai branch marks the opening of the first ever Austrian university in the region. Founded by Dubai Investments, the University offers a number of academic and professional programs with tourism and hospitality education at the heart of its offering.
Based at MODUL University in Dubai, is MESTER: The Middle East Sustainable Tourism Education & Research (MESTER) Center. It is the first Center of its kind to be established in the Middle East. The Center supports the region’s efforts in driving sustainable tourism through investment in education scholarships, research grants and entrepreneurship support. The Center will promote Dubai and the UAE as a center of excellence for sustainable travel, tourism and hospitality as well as become a regional hub for collaboration between the industry, policy makers and NGOs.
MESTER’s Activities:

  • Education scholarships for unprivileged students from the Middle East to study hospitality and tourism
  • Research grants to support applied-research in the field of sustainable tourism funded by the Center
  • Entrepreneurship support for young start-ups with a mission to contribute to sustainable tourism the Middle East

Austria Business Center wins Department of Economic Development (DED) Partners Forum Award 2016


Austria Business Center has won the prestigious Partners Forum Award 2016 from The Department of Economic Development in Dubai (DED). The award ceremony took place on 16th March 2016 at The Palazzo Versace Hotel, Dubai and the CEO for Austria Business Center, Mr. Josef Kleindienst was present to receive the award.

Saubermacher mit Grosauftrag im Nahen Osten

Der steirische Entsorgungsspezialist Saubermacher fährt gleich zwei Großaufträge im Oman ein, wie das Unternehmen am Donnerstag bekannt gab.
Wien. Über ein Joint Venture mit lokalen Unternehmen wird Saubermacher bei der Errichtung einer innovativen Ressourcenwirtschaft im Sultanat Oman federführend mitwirken, erklärte das Unternehmen am Donnerstag in einer Aussendung.

Weiterer Meilenstein im Nahen Osten
Nach Abu Dhabi stellen diese Großaufträge für Saubermacher einen weiteren Meilenstein auf seinem Expansionskurs im Nahen Osten dar. Ähnlich wie in Abu Dhabi setzt Saubermacher auch im Sultanat Oman auf die Zusammenarbeit mit lokalen Partnern. Mit an Bord sind West Coast Saubermacher, ein bereits bestehendes Joint Venture für den Auftrag in Abu Dhabi, und East Coast Integrated.
Das Sultanat Oman, das auch als Tourismusland auf sich aufmerksam macht, setzt auf Qualität im Umweltbereich. Dabei orientieren sich die Behörden im Oman an den Standards der europäischen Entsorgungswirtschaft.
Recyclingzentren, Fuhrpark, Service
Gegenstand der Bestbieterausschreibungen, die nur zu 40 % auf monetären Kriterien basieren, ist der Aufbau einer getrennten Abfallsammlung sowie die Errichtung und der Betrieb von Recyclingzentren nach modernen westeuropäischen Standards in den Regionen von Al Dakhiliyah und Dhofar. Die beiden Regionen umfassen eine Fläche von rund 132.000 km2. Zum Vergleich: Dies entspricht fast der gemeinsamen Fläche von österreich und der Slowakei.Das jährlich zu entsorgende Abfallvolumen beträgt circa 315.000 Tonnen.
Neben einem modernen, mit GPS ausgestatteten Fuhrpark und diversen Recyclingzentren, wird auch ein 24h-Kundenservice in den beiden Regionen aufgebaut.

It is our great pleasure to announce the results of the election of the new Austrian Business Council (ABC) Executive Committee Board that was held on Thursday, 3rd June 2015 during the ABC Annual General Meeting at the Conrad Hotel in Dubai.
The main purpose of the evening was to review the progress and activities of the past two years (June 2013 to May 2015) and to elect the Executive Board for the coming 2 years. The meeting was only open to members of the Austrian Business Council.
